If we assume he got most of that in 1982 (around the time he started taking big loans from his father) and simply invested in stocks that perform like the DJIA, he would now have $6.6 billion. I've been a little bit more active in investing, and I have the advantage that I have some insight into which technology stocks will do well. Once you get to about $400K in today's dollars, through inheritance, savings or stock earnings, you are pretty much guaranteed success as long as you don't do anything stupid. Sure. You could get someone to do the work to extract all that data then host a site to allow access. But it would be way easier to just maintain this one. Let's break it down. Diversity - a group with a wider perspective is better than a group with a narrow perspective. A company made up of all top performing EEs would suck. You need financial types, managerial types, a few mech E's, coders, IT people etc. Equity - you have to do more to support people who need it. Handicapped parking spots, ramps, elevators, bathrooms with larger stalls etc. Inclusion - you have to work to ensure everyone is included. Sometimes that means having career fairs at a place other than the CEO's alma mater, even if he really, really likes them. Which of them puts identity above ability? No, the best alternative is NO racism. And having racism but pretending it doesn't exist is not the same as no racism. Yep. Let's get there. We're not there yet. So you would rip out those handicapped parking spots and ramps, so that everyone gets equal facilities, without special provisions for the disabled? Attitudes like yours are why we have actually have to pass laws to protect the disabled. It should be common sense, but sadly that is quite lacking on the right these days.
