Poor chin strap configuration and quality! Chin strap loosened far to easily and needs adjusting after most jumps. This new helmet I purchased is not compatible with the life of a busy tandem instructor as it requires adjusting far too often. I think the older design helmets were much better than these new ones they're producing! Stowage for an audible is also very poor; the chances of you loosing your audible are above average. All in all a great big disappointment.

Sorry Bonehead.... But Never again!

I instantly fell in love with this helmet. Fits like a glove and freefall is so much more quiet. I tried several different helmets before deciding on the Pimp Daddy and was so excited when it arrived. Comfort is like no other and even threw it in the oven to get a custom shape. Some douchebag broke into my truck and stole all of my skydiving gear, leaving me to start all over from scratch. And less than 2 weeks before Christmas. Utterly defeated and crushed, I contacted Bonehead Composites to ask for a courtesy discount due to my circumstance, and guess what... They replaced my helmet for free. Didn't even charge me shipping. If you want the best quality helmet and stellar service from a company that actually gives a sh*t about you as a customer, then I strongly suggest and HIGHLY recommend these guys. let me start by saying that I am a big motorcycle/motocross guy and have been purchasing helmets for those sports for many years. My comparisons are based on other helmets used not for skydiving, so all jump helmets may be junk and that's just the nature of the sport.

I have found nothing about my mindwarp pimpdaddy helmet that resembles a quality built helmet!

The finish on the clear coat has several blemishes in it (I can deal with that)

The rubber trim around the edges was wavy and obviously not glued on with care

The fit was horrible! I measured my head using the website guidelines, I was right in the line between medium and large, so I selected the large. when on my head I noticed that the back upper part of the helmet was incredibly narrow. This area was pinching my head a bit too tightly. time to thermal fit the helmet. It took about 6 thermal fittings to make it not pinch (no big deal there)

The internal lining is removable so I guess that is a plus.

the audible pockets are a very thin material that have the coarse Velcro on the helmet side and only use the soft fabric of the liner to attach to. (Im sure this will ware out in less than 100 jumps and do a poor job of holding the ear padding in place after that.

In closing, I read the reviews on this helmet and everyone speaks very highly of it. this leads me to believe 1 of 2 options has occurred.
1) most of these reviews have been written by new people in the sport who have never worn anything other than a protec helmet (thats me)
2) that this sport is surrounded by junk helmets with hefty price tags.

I spent $230 with shipping and I wish I would have bought a protec,while the mindwarp may look a very little bit "cooler" it is the same quality as a 40 student helmet. maybe I should have spent 400 on a helmet and gotten quality. stay away from bonehead mindwarp, IT IS JUNK.

Good solid set up and nice functional helmet. Dual audibles are quite nice and will protect your head if you bang it onthe ground (I have seen it trust me)

I've tried every jump helmet on the market! The XXL "Mindwarp" is the only one that fits. I've been using an XXXL snow ski helmet that works OK but has a few to many places that could catch a line. The "Mindwarp" XXL is a bit tight but I think a few more bakes in the oven will take care of that! For those of you out there with large brains - TRY THE "MINDWARP"

After asking around and inquiring about the type of helmet I should purchase, the pimpdaddy came up several times. After using a friends XL a few times on some jumps, i knew it was what I wanted.

Compared to protec or student helmets, there is a huge difference.

I have a huge head (24.7" to be exact) so Linda at Bonehead wasn't even sure if it would fit and gave me an option just in case it didn't. Well, the box arrived and I tried it on and it fit perfectly. Slightly tight at one point on my forehead, but I can live with it. There's room in there for audibles and its EXTREMELY quiet in freefall....and comfortable as well.

Definately a great helmet and worth the purchase.

I bought a used Mindwarp and it only took a few minutes to buff out previous marks. It looks brand new and fits my strangely shaped melon. It's also extremely quiet making freefall even more enjoyable for me. Great product.

During student status, had to use the only XL protec at the DZ, and it barely fit. Went on a tour of DZs looking for a helmet to fit over my big melon and pointy chin. Not a single full face was up to the task. While at Perris, pulled on a Gunner and it was nice, but looked like it might be hard to attach a camera(way in the future) over the ear bulge. Next tried the pimp daddy. Perfect fit without baking it. Room on one side for camera mount. Bought one and can't believe how quiet and comfy it is. Plenty of room for internal audible. Can get a bit warm, but no reason not to buy. I think I'll get the optional chin cup to replace the strap/fastex clip. Bonehead makes a great helmet.

I have trouble getting helmets big enough for my giant head, so I'm weary of mailordering a helmet just to find out that it's too small. I talked to Linda Hardesty at Bonehead, she offered alternatives and a guarantee of return if it didn't fit even after baking it. Well I received my helmet in three days, a day earlier than she promised, it fit great and is just as comfortable as she said it would be. I recommend dealing with her directly for anyone that isn't sure what size or type of helmet they need.

The most appealing aspect is the new shape of this helmet, it has gone back to it's "pimp daddy" shape and lost the cone head apperance. The improved shape and the chin strap/buckle make this the helmet to own. Comfort is excellent even without baking the helmet. Once baked the fit is "like a glove". Craftsmanship is excellent as is the Customer Service.

After using this for several years, I am still head trama-free and the helmet is holding up very well. I have hit it on all kinds of things and was very glad it wasn't my own cranium. It is very lightweight and comfortable to wear. Too bad it is that ugly carbon fiber color. It is too expensive for custom paint.

Yeah i got my helmet and i love it! it's a perfect fit, the chin cup was easy to install and it feels great! the only thing is i had to bake it 3 times to get the fit i wanted haha. Oh well.

I received my new Mindwarp Millennium a few weeks ago. I baked it upon receipt to get a perfect fit. It is snug and so comfortable. I tried on 5 different helmets, and the bonehead felt the best. (It also blocks out the most noise.) The new Millennium comes with internal hard audible pockets - so there is no danger of a riser slap knocking off your AA.

I've heard that different helmets fit different shaped heads better or worse. Being able to conform an already comfortable helmet to my head, was a big plus. I love it and would definitely recommend it.

I just bought my Mindwarp a month ago and I LOVE IT. It fits great, I love the carbon fiber finish, and when I get a PRO-Track it will go on the inside of the helmet. The only small complant is the it insulates my head and it get a little warm, but it is still worth 5 stars.

I bought a Mindwarp helmet this winter, and I am very happy with it. It fits perfectly, is really light-weight and comfortable. The AA pouch is much more durable and secure but not really nice... Overall, this is an excellent choice.

I love the fit of this helmet. I have a hugh head and the xxl fits me wonderfuly. The problem is the AA pouch. It can't be used as it is designed. 1. you'll lose your AA with one good riser strike and 2. you can't hear the AA go off. I had to cut a new hole in both the padding and the helmet (no easy task). Also I have the AA covered in 1/4 inch of tape.

The fit gets a 10! the AA pouch a 2. Average 6

Don't get me wrong...I LOVE this helmet...but for 180 FRIGGIN BUCKS they could make a more DURABLE audible pocket...that neoprene thing just doesn't do it for me. I know a couple of people who've lost their dytters after risers hit them off at deployment.

Despite this...I love the thing. Fits like a glove.

I was kind of wanting a new open-faced helmet for swooping competitions and working with students, so I had a friend hook me up with Bonehead. I made a coast-to-coast phone call and got Jeanie on the phone in the middle of the night. Intrigued, she said to come by when I got to Perris. I took a tour of the factory and was duly impressed. I scored myself a new metalic blue Mindwarp (pimped out, of course) and we baked it on the spot! After reading some of the complaints about people having their audibles get ripped off their helmet or having them fly out of the pocket, I was impressed to find that the new design is MUCH more secure.

This helmet fits like a glove; not too tight though. It has provided me great service and I am very happy that I chose it. For those of you that do not like the exterior audible, the HOT ticket is the waterski version. It is setup so that you have more room for your ears. It also has a goggle-keeper on the back for those people that jump them (I jump in sunglasses).

I give this company my highest rating.

i like the helmet, it fits pretty well, i haven't baked it yet. but i got a dbox for the pc5 and have seen a few issues. I guy in Pahokee in March lost his camera in the same set-up as mine. the dbox is closed with just one strap and a plastic buckle. i've been paranoid so i add rubber bands. And i doubt this is bonehead's fault, I ordered it from pier ltd., but the mount was such that the camera was angled too far down. i had to pretty much brake my neck trying to get anything but the ground in the shot, that's beely flying, or flying camera over a 4 way, i had to have them behind me about through my legs. And this is probably pier ltd's fault as well, but the velcro for the padding wouldn't stay in place, i pretty uch held it in place till i put me head in. and the audible is horrible... it doesn't align with my ear or the hole in the padding. Cmon bonehead, that's easy. so i took the d-box off, drilled new holes in the helmet, reglued my velcro in place, and cut a hole close to hear my altimeter, which i still have a hard time hearing sometimes... but i figure that would still have been easier than trying to send it back for modifications...
other than that, it's a sweet helmet, and i still like it better than any others i've tried.

I would like to add to what somebody said earlier about the misplaced hole in the bonehead for your audible. I resorted to cutting some of the padding, because when you line the original hole up with the hole in the hard shell, the padding protrudes from the helmet. At the price you pay for a bonehead, you would expect better attention to detail. Also, why not keep the audible on the inside? One guy at my DZ lost his pro-track because a riser slapped it off. I would much rather have the bulge on the helmet and know my pro-track was safe.

Other than that I really like the helmet and it is really comfortable. Also for a beginner like myself it is great because I can use it for RW as well (no frap hat for me thank you very much!)

I would've given it 9 out of 10 if I didn't have to hack the inner padding with a pair of scissors and my pro-track was better protected.

A jumper at Aerodrome Skysports forgot to buckle her chinstrap and lost her Mindwarp on exit at about 14 grand. It hit the hangar (nice spot) and the sum of the damage was a small smear on the back. I'm buying one!

My Mindwarp is definitely a lovely, light and comfortable helmet but why did they give up there? Given that it is designed primarily for freeflyers, and most freeflyers wear cameras, why is the camera fitting support so bad and expensive.
I looked at the D-box for the Sony PC-5 and got a fibreglassing friend to make and fitting for me instead. For a start, they could have squared a little patch on the side of the helmet at least to facilitate bolting and camera box on to.
There's just so much fiddling to be done. And with the supplied D-boxes, you'd have to fibreglass around it yourself afterwards to avoid lines snagging in the sharp clefts between D-box and helmet.
Also, the audible pocket, while a nice idea, is in the wrong place for most people (unless you have ears towards the back and base of your head). I had to do a lot of re-positioning and cutting of the inner foam around the ear so I could actually hear my dytter in freefall.
It's all a bit of a shame for the price. It would definately be the best helmet if they would only follow through with the great design of the helmet and put a bit more thought and support into the add ons and options.

Being relatively new to the sport, I wasn't sure if I wanted a frap hat or a helmet. Unfortunately, I bought a frap hat. Very shortly afterwards, I tried on a few different helmets, and chose the Mindwarp. To me, there isn't a helmet that is as comfortable, or fits as well as the Mindwarp. The Thermo-fit molds the helmet to your head perfectly. I won't ever buy another helmet. The size, the low profile, and the look of the Mindwarp is unsurpassed!

I recently bought a Mindwarp helmet and I am very happy with it. It fits very snug and it is really light-weight; it feels like it is not on your head at all. Overall, this is an excellent helmet.
