I broke my T10-L4 and have my T11-L3 fused. It was broken on a jump. I used a walker for two weeks, a cane for a month. After 7 months, I saw the doctor for my final xray, and was declared permanently fused. I jumped a few days later (BASE). Skydived a few weeks after that. Lots of pilates and stretches and core strengthening. The injury occurred in March of 2017; I've been jumping since October 2017. Mostly BASE, some skydiving. A BASE opening is substantially harder than a skydive opening! I say go for it after your doctor clears you. The part that hurts my back the most is the packing! But this is still getting easier to do every week. I did upsize my canopies to help slow things down. I'm 42 and in decent shape for the record.

I had the same problem. I stopped skydiving for 2 years after getting into BASE. I jump an OSP 285 (301 PIA), and when I decided to get current again with skydiving, I rented a 210. Most of my skydives were with PD 190's. It was a BIG speed difference, and the first couple of jumps ended with hard PLFs. Others noticed that I was not flaring all the way, and almost had my hands out in front of me in an effort to catch my fall on the ground. Get someone to video your landings and see whats up. I decided to jump 260's until I became comfortable with them again; basically, starting my skydiving progression from scratch. Maybe you could see what bigger canopies your DZ has.

It is problematic to get in touch with someone from PdF rigging department about this. They are hard to reach,.. I wouldn't conduct business with a parachute manufacturer that is difficult to contact for assistance. Maybe that's why I've been a loyal Rigging Innovations customer exclusively for 32 years.
