  1. A larger slider on a canopy can actually cause harder openings, as it may allow for faster bottom skin inflation times. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  2. Yes, and no. I wanted to do it all and be good at everything. I was the same overly enthusiastic type that I sometimes find exhausting these days till their energy comes back down to more realistic levels. I have done a lot, and am pretty damn good at some things. The best part is theres still more to get good at, as well as going back and bringing old skills up to new levels.... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  3. I'm not an particular fan of Mr. Dause, but this is spot on. Life doesn't come to a grinding halt. If people choose to stop jumping because the lost someone they care about, then I support that. If others choose to keep jumping if there is no safety issue, then they shouldn't be condemned for it. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  4. Don't worry, none of us are crying about that. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  5. She's still there, and from what I've heard, Basler looked at it at one time and is not interested. I shot a few photos on a road trip through there. It's a good bet she'll never fly again.... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  6. Same as what he said. 13,000 jumps, 8,500 tandems, 18 years in. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  7. To be fair, they suggested the taxiway. By law as soon as your friend declared the emergency he was cleared for all runways, taxiways, ramps, the parking garage, or the top of the terminal/tower for that matter. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  8. You're talking about a group that won't even adapt to broadcasting the meetings (and it's been offered to do for free) much less embrace the technology to go virtual. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  9. You drafted legislation that would require dropzones to carry insurance that doesn't exist as a current product and would be a prohibitive expense? Please stop doing the sport any favors. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  10. Dibs! ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  11. Yes. I've had 3 broken ribs as evidence of just such a phenomena. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  12. ^ +1 ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  13. ^this...... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  14. $20 a load. That's a start. After you've proven yourself, that's when I think a reasonable DZO might talk salary. And if people knew who you were, they'd be more likely to hold a conversation. Stating "I have a ton of turbine/jet experience" means very little in this industry. This is as different from corporate flying as corporate flying is to flight instructing. I've met some jet jockeys that are able to figure it out really well, and I've met some that don't get it at all. The biggest thing you can do to be successful is when showing up for training, suspend the idea that you know anything at all. Be very receptive to that idea, and you have a chance to do well. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  15. Perhaps you don't realize it, but what you're asking for an the way you describe it sound very similar to a common scam technique used sometime on this site. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
