Posted 3 December 2009 Dear Friends, It is with great regret that we announce there will be no Thai Sky Festival in March of 2010. We have pursued every avenue. Although we do not claim to understand all the inner workings of the Royal Thai Air Force, our best understanding is that they cannot support any civilian skydiving event in 2010 due to lack of aircraft availability. The RTAF has a dozen Hercules C-130s and, at this time, seven are in the process of maintenance and refitting. It does make sense to us that the RTAF is reluctant to authorize any but the most essential military missions for the remaining five. While we are extremely disappointed (sob!), we respect the Royal Thai Air Force's decision and attention to the priorities of the Kingdom of Thailand. We are also deeply appreciative of the support we have received from the Hercules, BT, and Huey pilots, and all our good friends in Thailand. We intend to pursue our request for Thai Sky Festival 2011, as it is our hope and belief that this situation is temporary. As always, we will post any news on this web-site. In the meantime, please keep the peace and health of His Majesty, the King of Thailand, in your thoughts, wishes, and prayers. I think this is my 5th or 6th Thai Sky Festival and this year, I only come during the first week. Like every single year, around 6 - 8 Herc loads and this year an ever increasing amount of BT 67 and Huey loads. Herc up to 15,000 - 15,500 ft, while the BT 67 dropped us from around 13,500. This is mostly a RW boogie with 4 - 5 jumps a day (and I can tell you, you are beat with the heat at the end of the day. But there are 2 magnificent freefly coaches and they've been doing up to 12 ways FF jumps I cannot say much about the 2nd week, but I did 18 jumps in one of the smaller size groups with BJ as load organizer. The larger groups were between 15 - 28 ways and one invitation only with Patrick Passe, who did some amazing 32 ways. I have seen video debriefs of 6 points 20+ ways and that was awesome to see. No accidents, a few malfunctions and like every single year, a fabulous atmosphere. Yes, we are on Facebook and pictures are also on Facebook. This is my second Odyssey. First one, not a single problem, great fit and very durable. Second one, was basically brand new, hardly any jumps on it. Felt once more so extremely comfortable with all options, yet came with a pull-out system. Am now waiting (my rigger as well) for more than 2 months to switch over to a throw-out system, yet Sunpath has not been able to process this order (via my rigger) in that period. Needs definitely improvement in that field. Worth your money but.....

I am currently looking in perhaps integrating a camera to my jumps. Lately, the market had gotten its fair share of advertisement about these small cameras and they seem to be perhaps an ideal way to start. I want to try it out. PLUS, it seems to me that they are easier to mount (e.g. legs and arms) on you. Does anybody has experience with these small micro, 'spy', 'bullet' cameras and which ones are - from your point of view - standing out compared to others.? Thank you all for your efforts in getting my own main in my own bag....Trying is the one and only thing I guess. Besides asking questions, practice makes perfect. Just went to a DZ here in Norway and they seem to say the same thing - Stop hiring a packer - Do not be afraid to ask for help - Practice at home. I have a - according to a packer - really easy Spectre in my Javelin Odyssey so that should be already easy. Thank you all (especially I know the problems LittleOne had in Pattaya...) Hey I have been jumping for a while (240+ jumps) yet constantly have the same problem; I do not seem to get packing my main sufficiently under control. Had four-five private packing lessons with an experienced rigger (during my AFF, the packing part/coaching sucked!), have been trying to pack my rig at home (no success...do not know why), asked tips from fellow skydivers (you all know who you are!, respect), bought DVD about packing, tried over and over again, yet it does not seem to click with me. Perhaps I am the only one in the world, yet really want to get the hang of it. Is there somebody who really has experienced similar problems ? Tips? Some mistakes are too much fun to make only once.

Been to both. Started in Perris in 03, did AFF and A-license. 2 Years later went to Elsinore to try it out. Really cool and relaxed vibe here but during week days, they turn less loads than in Perris. After 2 days Elsinore, went back to Perris just for the tunnel and more loads during the week days. Stayed there for the rest of the 2 weeks I had. I myself prefer Perris, but I can only say that you have to try Elsinore as well. Can really understand that people enjoy Elsinore. Skydive Arizona is a great school, especially if you can combine the 25 jumps / A license with a wind tunnel on site. Just do not go there during the summer months (which I did once - never again).' Really, try to get some windtunnel time while you are there, it really helps with muscle memory. Being scared is nothing to be ashamed of, better call it anxiety...what helps if you are not 100% sure is to go through the ground training as much as possible. Good luck! There are 2 dropzones in Thailand: 1www.skydivethailand.com has problems with starting up and continuing. The other one is in the eastern part of Thailand http://www.thaiskydiving.com/ but this one is very small (and a long drive from BKK): Lived in BKK myself and traveled mainly to US for skydiving. Thai Sky Festival was the boogie we all went for, but have to wait until (??) MaRCH 08. They do sometimes some jumping in Indonesia - Malaysia is nothing anymore that may be of interest. Australia would be the best bet. Some mistakes are too much fun to make only once.
