MonteCarbo 0 #1 Posted May 19, 2020 Greetings all. My name is Ethan Carbonaro and I've been working on a pretty interesting project that involves live streaming a crazy road trip to all 50 states in 50 days. During this adventure I want to really test and push the limits of live stream content. Would anyone be interested in taking my camera setup for a wingsuit jump? To my knowledge I don't think it's been done before. The rig (camera, battery, internet routers, and cables) is pretty light and fits into a medium sized backpack. I'll be in all 50 states, so if you live in the US I'd love to connect.
johnmatrix 21 #2 May 19, 2020 It's been done. Some guy tried it a couple of years back but it did not go so well. Someone may help you. Your project does sound cool but a live streamed wingsuit skydive is not going to be super interesting footage unless you have a group of people. If you in fact do need all that gear (is using a mobile phone via Facebook not possible?) then that's going to need some thought from the jumper too. I did a little bit of research after posting this and found what I think you're talking about. Scary stuff to say the least, but I doubt the camera/equipment would be causing too much danger on their own. You undoubtedly know more than me, but the gear isn't very cumbersome at all (while walking at least lol). I would still really like to do this. If you know anyone in the states who might be interested in trying something like this, send them my way and I'd love to connect with them. Thanks again for the reply. 20kN 93 #4 May 19, 2020 (edited) You're not going to get cell service that high. Usually cell service gets pretty weak above 3k-5k. You might get one bar at 7-8k if you're close to a tower, but that wont be enough for a live video feed. I have seen people do hop and pops while live streaming and even that doesn't always go so well. Also what you're explaining is not going to be possible this year anyway due to the virus. It probably wont be safe to do next year either. For sure you're going to get infected doing what you suggest. Edited May 19, 2020 by 20kN
