ASR-Pioneer, Enters Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

ASR-Pioneer, has declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is seeking to sell the company under Section 363 of the Bankruptcy Code. The parachute manufacturer is a collection of companies, including Pioneer and Strong Parachutes,"

They have already sold off one of the pieces, Pioneer maker of recovery parachutes used by various space programs, was sold to SpaceX for $2.2 million.

I've not seen any information specific to Strong Parachutes.

Space X uses Pioneer drogue parachutes for the return of their Dragon spacecraft. (But Airborne Systems provides their main parachutes.) High speed parachute design is a specialized thing, so even Space X didn't do it in house.

Still got my Pioneer Titan canopy, though it has been a decade since I used it at Bridge Day...

Will be interesting to see what happens to Strong.

I have a Pioneer Parachute coffee mug... ha ha...

I nabbed mine in 1989 after D Monich bought the US Forgecraft plant in Ft. Smith, AR.

Anyone else have one?
