  1. well, it's tough to say, could be his packing but maybe a new line set is in order.
  2. short or long? Hard to be short but possible
  3. They say they can make a ram air parachute , talk is cheap, first they have to make a canopy or two and jump them to make sure they are O.K. Then we will see.
  4. Yes, you need the STC, I believe the paperwork is STC SA11-68, go online for the maker.
  5. Oh yeah, I'm liking that, a very good excuse to go last! I used to ask Steve Fielding "how come you get to go last all the time". his reply "It's my load" I am real close, I can get a smaller rig if I use the Pilot ZPX but I'd rather have the sabre 3, better lower end and it's only one size larger, I'll look for you at Perris.
  6. I actually not fixated on it I'm just trying to get the smallest neatest container system I can, I suppose moving up a size is not the end of the world. Good point! As soon as I can ascertain which canopy I am going to get (I have chosen the reserve) I'll get them sent to me and take them over to infinity for the containers.
  7. I am really thinking about the Pilot because I can get it in ZPX fabric and stuff it into a smaller container, the 168 is the one I am considering. It's my second choice I would rather have a saber 3 but don't think I can get it into a Infinity I-33.
  8. Not really, 150 was the min. that I was looking at, probably going to go with a 168/170. Thats why I am getting further advice b4 I make my final choice. What is the difference in the durability and longevity of the Aerodyne ZP VS ZPX fabric?
  9. I can live with 1:1, I'm torn between container size and canopy size but leaning toward canopy size. I have no problem with the reserve I can get a pretty good sized reserve into a small container, I'm looking at a PD optimum or a smart 2000 in a 160
  10. Yes, wing loading is my PRiMARY concern, I'm 84 and my days of jumping those hard opening and hard landing canopies is long over. I'm exiting at 190/200 and the smallest I want to go is 150.
  11. I am getting close to new gear and want specific stuff, I have no interest in swooping my expertise lies in RW, large round stars and formations and speed stars. I want a canopy that opens on heading, no hunting around, short opening time and packs up fairly small. I have decided between a Pilot or a Saber 3 but thought I would ask others here for their opinion since it's been some time since I have jumped but am pushing 1K jumps.

    RIBS

I did BBQ ribs today, all my past sins have been forgiven!!!!
  13. O.K. there's what happened, it was 1972 and myself and other people had flew up from Elsinore in spikes beech. at the end of the meet we were deciding what to make memorable for us. As I remember it there were two NG troops there, one leaning up against the flagpole and another at the entrance to the building. I had my good friend Sam Marshall , later of visions team, give me a leg up. on the flagpole and I climbed up and undid the two attached flags , USPA AND Oklahoma , and brought them back down, mind you this was WHILE the guard from the National Guard was leaning up against the flag pole asleep. I think we also got the wind sock and stuffed them into the nose of Spikes beech. We had them on display at a Bar in Sunland, Ca. for a long time.

    Scrambles

It started in Elsinore on the Labor Day Weekend. Everybody with a SCR number wrote it down on an entry slip and there was a drawing. each 8 names were a team and if I remember correctly we had three jumps each and the best times were the winner. Teams were judged by telemeter. No show exit and time started with the first out the door.

    Scrambles

What ever happened to the SCR scrambles, this was a fun meet.
  16. Take a Canopy course at your earliest convenience!
  17. That was Jerry's trademark jump, 10 man to 2 five mans and back to a 10 man. It's still a good jump! I see Chuck Wickliffe in there also, I organized a 20 man over Elsinore one weekend and it got time to go and chuck came up to see and said " I have to pass on this load Larry" and I asked him why and he said " You left Patty off that last load you organized and she is P.O'd and doesn't want me to go". I said "Chuck the load was full and I would have to drop a lot better jumper than her to put her on it". He said "I know but that's the way it is she doesn't want me to go and is raising her;l over it". After that she and I never got along and she would never include me on any of her big stars she organized.
  18. Bummer I was off by a year but I was there. I see Bob Westover in that video and Rich P. I am missing 1 or 2 of my log books and am trying to piece things together from memory.
  19. What do you think??? Is the USPA interested in the specifics surrounding the disappearance of the USPA flag and the State of Oklahoma flag from the flag pole in front of the building at the Tahlequah airport during those particular events??? This heinous and despicable crime certainly needs to be addressed.
  20. never mind, I have it figured out
  21. It's getting to the area of a "comfortable person sport" not quite "a rich persons sport" yet although it's getting pretty darn close.
