GOP: "Hey! Just because we gave women the right to vote, didn't mean we intended for them to vote for whoever they wanted!"

Trump is "alleging that the Washington Post has made illegal in-kind contributions to Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign through its fawning coverage." FOX News may be getting a little nervous right now.

Yep. I saw that this morning. It was fun while it lasted, and I really wish it were as vibrant as it once was. To me it was a much more democratic (in the sense of participation) format than FB, Reddit, or whatever else is out there. There’s an awful lot of good information here Wendy P.

Last week Julia Roberts did an ad for Harris, telling women that they can vote however they want, and don't have to tell anyone how they voted, since US votes are secret. This took off in an unexpected way - women have been leaving notes in women's bathrooms reminded other women that their vote is secret. This also started an unexpected firestorm of anger from the right. John McEntee, Trump campaign official and Project 2025 author, posted a video that endorsed male-only voting to eliminate the "threat." Charlie Kirk, infamous Trump supporter, said that if his wife voted for someone and didn't tell him, it would be “the same thing as having an affair.” Newt Gingrich: “For them to tell people to lie is just one further example of the depth of their corruption. How do you run a country…saying wives should lie to their husbands, husbands should lie to their wives? I mean, what kind of a totally amoral, corrupt, sick system have the Democrats developed?” It should be noted that Gingrich cheated on his first two wives. Jesse Watters: “If I found out Emma [his wife] was going to the voting booth and pulling the lever for Harris, that’s the same thing as having an affair. That violates the sanctity of our marriage. What else is she keeping from me? What is she lying about? Why would she do that and vote Harris? Why would she say she was voting… If I caught her and she said, ‘I lied to you for the last four . . . ." The interviewer then interrupted him: "So you'd intimidate . . . " He continued: "It's over Emma! That would be D-Day!" MAGA pastor Dale Partridge: “in a Christian marriage, a wife should vote according to her husband’s direction . . .he is the head and they are one. This is not controversial.” Partridge declared. Far right pastor Joel Webbon declared that women should vote the same as their husbands. "This is the Christian position," he declared. Trump himself has urged women to get their "fat pig husbands off the couch" and get them to vote for him to "save America." And yesterday he expressed a hope that Liz Cheney, a prominent republican who does not support Trump, be shot. Not sure either of those approached will increase his support among women voters.

John Oliver's got a history of using HBO's significant resources to do ridiculous things on Last Week Tonight. This week's episode focused on immigration, and the second half of the show was mainly about Lee Greenwood and his 'God Bless the USA' song. I remember when they played it during my Naturalization Ceremony and I thought it was odd, as I had first known the 'God Bless Canada' version. Oliver pulled one of his classic ridiculous/hilarious stunts to offer up an alternative to Lee Greenwood's anthem for future Naturalization ceremonies, and it's absofuckinglutely brilliant. The whole 18 minutes is worth a watch, but skip to 14:05 for just the song.

We have talked about misogyny in the US before, but I’m truly shocked at the level of backlash over this ad. The American right have more in common with Iran and the Taliban than they care to admit.

HH Thank you for so many years of being able to not only connect with my fellow skydivers, but to communicate with them in a group. I have developed new lifelong friendships from here. I wish you well in your future endeavors.

Hi folks, Just now: Former President Donald Trump's repeated claims against 60 Minutes are false. • The interview was not doctored; and • 60 Minutes did not hide any part of Vice President Kamala Harris's answer to the question at issue. 60 Minutes fairly presented the interview to inform the viewing audience, and not to mislead it. The lawsuit Trump has brought today against CBS is completely without merit and we will vigorously defend against it. Jerry Baumchen

Sorry to hear that, hopefully it led the FAA to tighten the screws on some regs or idk what may have helped. I think I saw Gopro footage of the 2016 crash at some point if it was the flip-over. Looking back at the news interviews of Dause saying the forgery didn't happen was strange. He can claim ignorance but to be so certain in defending an eventual conviction and prison sentence is suspicious.

I feel strongly that whoever owned the tie left behind on the plane was a metallurgist and had some prior parachuting activity. I'm casting a wide net but here's some base level info on a group of men that pass (mostly) intial requirements; metallurgist, army airborne, appropriate age, appropriate height, appropriate complexion. I'm mostly just passing this along for anyone bored with their regular Cooper programing and wants to vet these further. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1X4rGQ10M_Dbo22u1zkQairDOk-YvMiyu?usp=sharing

For some reason I always felt as though Scotty would be with us forever. He was a "character" beyond the meaning of the expression. I am saddened to hear of his passing. None of us are going to last forever folks. Cherish your skydiving friends and acquaintances. Do not "rest-in-peace" Scotty. Stir it up wherever you are!

While I am not yet a skydiver, my father Ken Coleman most definitely was. My memories as a child are of drop zones, skydivers, formations and lots of parachutes. Names and faces of Mike Michigan, Dick Byrd, Fred Sands, Rocky Evans and numerous others are a huge part of those memories. Now, I am trying to find out more about my father and his skydiving history, beyond the obvious like AFF. I am looking for people I knew back then and information to help piece together my dad's skydiving history. As I am going through all his things there signed photos from the Beech Nuts and Rainbow Flyers, numerous medals, AFF training videos and all of his dive logs that I am entering electronically to track dad's history. If you can help me piece more information into the puzzle, please write back.
